D.C. United top Orlando City thanks to a wonder goal from Wayne Rooney. The former Manchester United and England International scored one of the greatest goals in MLS history from 70 yards out!!
Wayne Rooney comments on his amazing goal:
“I spotted the keeper maybe a couple minutes before we scored and I’d seen that he was quite high.
I knew if the ball fell to me near the halfway line, then the opportunity would be there for me to shoot it. He was probably a bit further out than normally because they were in possession of the ball, and it was through them losing it that it fell straight into my path. I knew immediately I was going to shoot it and, thankfully, I got it right.”
Wayne Rooney loves to play against Orlando City SC and has come out with big moments against the Floridians
“I think just coincidence; nothing against Orlando at all. I’ve enjoyed the games against them and in the three games against them there’s been three big moments. Hopefully the next time we play them there’ll be a fourth.”
D.C. rank third in the Eastern Conference standings with the win and just two points behind leaders Philadelphia Union. Playing against his former Man United teammate Nani, Rooney scored his 9th goal of the campaign with fashion in 17 games played.
