Major League Soccer week 31

Wayne Rooney and DC United stormed pass Montreal Impact to move closer to MLS playoffs. With two games in hand and sitting two points behind final playoff berth spot, DC United control their destiny.

Rooney is confident

The arrival of the Englishman brought second life to the Eastern Conference team. DC United are hunting for a playoffs spot and Wayne Rooney has brought renaissance to a team that was lacking confidence.

Rooney scored his second brace with the team and clearly has been the man for DC United.

He reacted to the performance:

“I think, deep down, we’ve felt that anyway. We’ve been building momentum at the right time.

I think that’s what we’ve needed. We’ve put ourselves in a great position, and we knew, we didn’t want let all our hard work slip tonight.”

Coach Olsen added:

“This is how we thought it was going to shake out. We knew we had the opportunity to grow in rhythm and wins at home, and realized who we were and got some signings in.

But again, there’s so much work to do. This win doesn’t do us any good if we don’t take care of Chicago next weekend.”
